Assistant Scoutmaster (helping with scout advancement, hands-on skills, outdoor program)

  • Leader Specific Training for Scoutmaster and ASM's  (BSALT)
  • Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.   (ITOLS)

Troop Committee (provides support with troop structure, indoor program, finances, advancement tracking, tour permits, etc.) This group of leaders is probably the least commonly trained of all of the leaders in our district and yet greatly influence the health and safety of the troop itself.

Scoutmaster/ASM Training (SALT)
Three-part training that presents the skills and methods Scoutmasters can use to organize a Boy Scout Troop and support its boy leaders in developing and delivering an effective, exciting Scouting program. The three sessions are as follows:

  • Getting Started: Role of the Scoutmaster in a Boy-Led Troop
  • Lighting the Fire: The Outdoor & Advancement Programs
  • Keeping it Going: Program Planning and Troop Administration
  • Pre-requisite: New Leader Essentials

ITOLS

Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (ITOLS)

A weekend camping experience which teaches you how to teach the outdoor skills necessary for a Scout to attain the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.

ITOLS consists of a one-day orientation and a full weekend outing, normally held in the fall. Both the orientation session and the weekend are required.
