BALOO training is scheduled for Saturday, November
19, 2011 at the Mayfield Farms & Nursery in Athens. Cost is
$12 and includes lunch and program materials. ADVANCE
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

 The
2011 Cub Scout Olympics was absolutely wonderful! 61 Cub
Scouts and their parent partners competed in 8 events of skill and
speed for the title of "Olympic Champions".
October 2011
Due to scheduling conflicts
with several troops in the District, the dates for the Fall Camporee have
changed. The Fall Camporee will be on October 7-9, 2011 at Hiwassee
College near Madisonville, TN. Click

held on Saturday, March 12 at the Calhoun Elementary School

The Unaka District Cub Scout Twilight Camp
will be held June 20-24 at the Mayfield Diary Farm north of Athens.
The theme will be "Survivor". Registration forms will be mailed to
all registered scouts from the council office later this month. Cost
is $55 for early registration (before May 16). $60 after May 16 and
$70 for walk-ons. We're still looking for adults to help with the
camp, so if you're available, please see Christy Seibert.
April 2011
The District Webelos Scout Crossover ceremony
will be held on April 16, 2011 at the Stacey Crisp farm in Calhoun.
Everyone is invited. Meet at the Calhoun United Methodist Church no
later than 7:30pm on April 16. We will travel by convoy to the
crossover site at dusk and the ceremony will start immediately upon
our arrival. Cubmasters with Webelos scouts to participate in the
crossover must provide a list of names AND THE TROOP NUMBER they
will be crossing into to Phil Seibert or Stan Weslowski NO LATER
THAN APRIL 9!
A representative of the gaining Troop, the cubmaster
and the scout's parents will all have a part in the ceremony so they
must be present. There will be no charge for this ceremony, but the
cubmaster and the scoutmaster of the gaining troop MUST be
present for a rehearsal on Saturday, April 9 at 2:00pm. Please

for more details.

Cub Scout Lock-in -
The lock-in scheduled for this Friday night
has been officially CANCELLED. We only
had about 25 boys planning to attend, and we simply cannot cover
costs with that low number.
I think the snow last week messed up a lot of meetings and
opportunities to work on this. Maybe next year! --Connie

FREE Physicals are available for Boy Scouts
attending summer camp. Dr. Byrd and the group at Athens
Family Practice have again graciously donated their time and resources to
provide free summer camp physicals to the Boy Scouts of the Unaka
District. The physicals will be held at the Athens Family Practice
medical clinic (711 Cook Dr, Athens) on Wednesday
April 28 from 4 until 6:00 pm. Scoutmasters should let Connie
Akers (connieakers@hotmail.com)
know an approximate number of boys and adults needing physicals no later
than Friday, April 23 so the practice can have the resources in place.
